Team Georgia 2017 – Defensive Back Breakdown

We have broken down every position for Team Georgia leading up to the game. Now it’s game week and our last position group is the defensive backs. We will include the players considered as athletes in this breakdown.

6th Grade
Team Georgia defensive backs will need to come with a solid game if Georgia is expected to win. Unfortunately for Georgia one of their best, Harlem Diamond of Cedartown, went down with an injury this week. So one that could step up is Za’Quan Bryan of Savannah. He is a big DB for this age with excellent speed and will be leaned on. Also look for Tyson Greenwade of Dalton to step up this game. Georgia has a group with potential like Arthur Brown of Warner Robins, Terien George of Atlanta, EJ Adams of Loganville and DJ Rogers of Rome. A kid to keep your eye on is 5th grader Jordan Gatlin of Valdosta who was the MVP of the Savannah camp.
Listed as an athlete, Bryce Bowens of Lithonia may be one of the top 3-4 skill players on the team. The 5-7 and 140lbs kid could be seen at a number of positions on the field. Another athlete to watch is TJ Ware of Breman.

7th Grade
Like many other position groups for 7th Grade, the defensive backs are a talented group. None more talented than the speedy 5-7 140lbs lockdown corner from Lithonia, Trevon Ferrell. He is capable of eliminating one side of the field in the passing game and great in run support. But, with FSG veteran Cameron Cainon possible lining up at another corner, those two are as talented as you will see. But the talent doesn’t stop. Hunter Dunn of Savannah, Renalba Gaskins of Waycross, Kaleb Cost of Fayetteville, and Justin Hailstock of Leesburg are talented and hungry. Two more that could likely have big games for Georgia from the safety spot are hard hitting Joseph Roberts of Stone Mountain and Milon Jones of Smyrna.
But, the two athletes listed for Team Georgia are special. Sutton Smith could be the most explosive player on the field. Not many can match the speed, quickness, heart and football savvy of this kid who was named B2C Offensive Player of the Year. But, not to be outdone is the explosive Cameron Sigur of Covington.
This talented group could be game changers especially Sutton in the return game.

8th Grade
The defensive backs for Georgia 8th Grade are going to be key to stop the explosive Florida running game,as they will have to come up and tackle. One at the top of that list is the head knocking 6ft safety Kamar Wilcoxson of Lithonia. Some publications have pegged him as the #1 DB in the state of Georgia for this class.
But this group has some very talented new comers to the game that could help this group of kids walk away with their first win. Marsyan Ellison was the MVP of the Dekalb camp, speedy Terry Patterson-Bryant of Savannah, big DBs Amir Harper of Columbus and Nasir Howell of Kennesaw, Orion Bonner, Brandon Mills of Waycrosd and Amir Taylor of Grayson are some first time FSG players that greatly upgrade this teams secondary.
Two other returning players that could play a significant role at safety are the extremely fast Jordan Grier of Decatur and talented Adrian Jackson of Gray who actually played in 6th Grade game last year but has reclassified and is on 8th grade team now.
This group is extremely deep and talented, as evident by the Future Stars Game thinking it was one of the hardest and deepest groups to select for the game. Their are 4-5 more kids that were deserving of making the team at DB, showing the talent and depth of this group.
